Brief Introduction
Professor, Ph.D. supervisor, and the director of the Spatial Planning Research Center of Nanjing University. He was selected as “Design Master” of Jiangsu Province in 2016, and a member of planning consultant for Xiong'an New District. He also serves as the executive director of the China Association of City Planning (CACP), the director of the Academic Committee of the Urban and Rural Governance and Policy Research of the CACP, and a member of the Academic Committee of the CACP. He won the National Youth Geographic Science & Technology Award, the 1st session of China Urban Planning Youth Science & Technology Award, and the "Young Scholar Award" of the 1st session of the “China City Forum 100”, and New Century Excellent Talents Award by Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China.
Prof. Zhang mainly engages in the research of urban-regional development strategy and spatial planning and governance, and has published more than 300 academic papers and 17 books. He also presided over the strategic plans of important cities such as Hangzhou, Shantou, Suzhou, and Nanjing, the spatial layout plans of Hubei Province, Shandong, and central-southern Hebei, as well as the Beautiful Hangzhou Action Plan, the Strategic & Action Plan for Hangzhou Future City Practice Zone, the Strategic and Territorial Spatial Plan of Nanjing Airport Economic Zone, etc. He won the first prize of National Excellent Planning and Design, the second prize of Huaxia Construction Technology, and other awards.
